“We’re Not Asking for Money — We’re Asking for Your Support”
Friend,
We’re reaching out as the Tradesmen Outreach Initiative — a by-tradesmen-for-tradesmen project designed to strengthen the well-being of tradespeople on Vancouver Island.
We’re not looking for financial donations. Instead, we’re asking for local businesses like yours to contribute discounts, promos, or incentives that can be included in resource kits we’re distributing directly on job sites.
The Numbers:
200 tradesmen will directly receive resource packages in this first phase.
Kits will circulate on multiple job sites, reaching hundreds more workers.
Extended reach through partnerships with training programs for newcomers in the trades.
Why This Matters
Tradesmen across our region told us they often feel isolated and disconnected from community supports. The culture of “toughing it out” and the reality of irregular hours make it difficult to reach out for help — even when supports exist.
That’s why we’ve created stigma-free resource kits, designed and distributed by tradesmen themselves. These kits combine practical resources with local business discounts, making them approachable and relevant. Sometimes someone picks up the kit because of the discount — and in the process, they also find out about vital supports they might otherwise miss.
How Your Business Can Help
By offering a discount, coupon, or promo, you can:
Increase visibility for your business among the trades community.
Show your support for the hardworking people who keep our region running.
Help destigmatize access to community resources by making the kits appealing and useful.
In return, your logo will be featured on the kit packaging, at our Literacy Center resource hub, and on our website.

This is a simple but powerful way for your business to stand behind tradesmen, strengthen community ties, and make sure no one is left out of the support they deserve.
We’d love to include you. Please let us know if you’d like to participate or if you have questions.
With appreciation,
